The image below is my youngest running across the yard with a bouquet of flowers for her family. I love depicting the figure in motion. So many of art lessons are on gesture drawing and movement. So much of my paintings depict movement and color, not only the figures but the lines and shapes that surround the subject. In regards to digital photography, I gravitate more towards black and white images (which is ironic since I love to paint with vivid colors). I think the black and white pictures remind me of my days of developing film at the photo lab on the Manhattanville campus. My best pictures always had the dramatic light source, whether it is a natural light source (like the setting sun shown here) or photography lights in the studio. I also like more candid photos rather than posed. Again, I think this is due to my schooling at Manhattanville where I learned the best
